News in Brief
STOP PRESS…………………………
>Interest Group meetings in August - some groups will not be meeting in August due to the summer holidays. Please check with Group Leaders (below) if you need further information.
>U3A Diaries 2011 - the Third Age Trust produce a neat, pocket sized diary for £1.90. Last year the SU3A purchased a diary for each Comittee member and Interest Group Leader but we have decided not to do this in the future. Individuals wishing to purchase a diary should give their names to Hilary Taylor who will place an order on their behalf.
>Activities Calendar July - December 2010 - now available on the Notices Table, it is also on this website on the events and activites calendar page.
>Treats for the Troops
Your donations are still very welcome and on behalf of the Committee I would like to say an enormous THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed. Hilary Taylor.
>Absent Members
If you know of any U3A member who as regularly attended our monthly meetings, but was absent last time due to illness or other difficulties, please advise a Committee member so that we dan contact them. Thank you.
>Trusted Traders
If you know of any traders or individuals you are willing to recommend to U3A members, please complete one of the sheets on the Notices Table. It would be appreciated if the list of Traders is left on the table for other members to make a note of any trader’s details. Thank you. Ann and Ivan Wyle.

The speaker will be Dr John Middleton, Head of Sandwell PCT, talking about Sandwell’s state of health. It should be an interesting session given the changes envisaged for the NHS.
Future Meetings
At the moment it is likely that the October meeting will be an “Open Day” to which we will invite potential new members. Part of the session will be group leaders giving a brief idea of what they have to offer, then hopefully, a talk on the redevelopment of West Bromwich town centre. It is vital that we increase our membership in order to (a) cover the extra costs of our move to The Public and (b) ensure that our annual subscriptions remain low. At the moment I am engaged in a concentrated campaign of press and other coverage and our website will be developed further, but as our strength has always been “word of mouth” we would ask you all to spread the word as much as possible. The more members we have, the lower we can keep our costs, and possibly begin new interest groups.
